Counselling or Hypnotherapy?

One of the questions I get asked is: “Should I book counselling or hypnotherapy?” When people search for counselling vs hypnotherapy, they often find descriptions that make them sound like two completely separate choices. And they can be.

But what most people really want to know isn't about individual therapeutic methods. They just want the thing that works and they feel comfortable with.

So the real question is, which therapy will work best for you?

When understanding the problem hasn’t changed it

One of the most frustrating experiences is knowing exactly why you do something but still finding yourself doing it.

You may know that a situation is not dangerous, yet your body responds with anxiety. You may understand that constant overthinking is not helping, but be unable to switch it off. You might recognise an unhelpful habit or emotional pattern, yet it seems to happen before you have a chance to respond differently.

Rather than trying to reason with the analytical part of your mind one more time, conversational hypnotherapy (eyes open) and hypnotherapy (eyes closed) offers another way to work with the more automatic processes that can be driving thoughts, emotions and behaviour.

Being able to draw from multiple therapies during one session, such as counselling and hypnotherapy, provide flexibility to using what is most appropriate in the moment for your needs. They provide different ways of helping create change at the conscious AND unconscious levels. Click here to learn more about how I work.
